There are so many things I am learning about myself,
about life,
about being happy,
etc.
And that is what I am.
I am happy because I am me and I want to be.
Let's play catch up via Instagram, shall we?
So I caught Gangnam fever.
And as my Korean roommate (who is not really Korean.. she just served her mission there) will tell me, it is pronounced Gog-Nom not Gang-Nam, as Americans like me lovingly pronounce it.
It really makes her mad when I pronounce it wrong.
Which makes it really funny when I do :)
I can't stop dancing Gangnam Style!
I have been meaning to blog about this for awhile...
Allison and I had a really fun and fancy night out a couple weekends ago!
There is a huge Latin dance festival at the U and I got to tag along.
It was so freaking fun.
I wish I had a little ethnicity in me.
But as far as I know I am just white...
and Scottish...
So toss me those bag pipes!
Anyways, before dancing the night away we went to the FANCIEST restaurant ever!
They only have valet parking.
It's a cute little Italian cottage in Salt Lake.
Their menus light up, yes LIGHT UP, when you open them.
And the lasagna was wonderful.
Sorry, I don't remember the name of it :)
My roommates and I have been catching up on the last season of Grey's Anatomy.
I knew there was a reason I never watched it!
I have bawled my eyes out 3 times watching this show.
Who does that!?
My new read that came via Amazon.com.
Seems legit.
I can't cook.
End of story.
Spent some quality Meags & Lizzy time this weekend!
It was special.
We're special.
These are the little piggy banks I decorated for our United Way fundraiser at work.
Mine aren't even the cutest ones!
I sure do work with some creative peeps.
Did I mention today is my half birthday!?
21 and 1/2!
Obvs (obviously) birthdays and half birthdays are a big deal to me.
Now I couldn't leave you guys without some tunes I'm obsessing over this week, right?
I was super disappointed with T Swift's We're Never Getting Back Together...
But just like Harry says in Dumb and Dumber, "You totally redeemed yourself!!"
And yes, yes Taylor you did.
Now get your hipster pants on.
Broken Bells are comin' at chya.
I told you this would be a combination of ramblings.
Social media, although sometimes overwhelming and negative, can be used to spread light.
This Sunday was Regional Conference in the Utah Valley area.
Us single adults near BYU all piled into the Marriot Center to listen to the leaders of our church share some really valuable lessons with us.
I am so grateful for Sundays because no matter what I always hear a message at church that my Father in Heaven wanted to share with me.
This Sunday I was again reminded by Elder Oaks that texting and social media are at our finger tips and in a second we can share information with the whole world.
This is a very powerful tool.
I know I can definitely be a better example of sharing positive, light, and good news through these channels.
Anyways...
Today multiple friends on my Facebook news feed shared some things I really needed to hear.
I'm so grateful for the tender mercies that the Lord gives us every day!
There are so many of them and if we don't pay enough attention they just go unnoticed!
This quote really caught my attention today.
"I testify that bad days come to an end, that faith always triumphs, and that heavenly promises are always kept."
This quote is from a talk that Elder Holland gave at a CES Fireside.
"Remaining true to our Christian principles is the only way divine influence can help us. The Spirit has a near impossible task to get through to a heart that is filled with hate or anger or vengeance or self-pity. Those are all antithetical to the Spirit of the Lord. On the other hand, the Spirit finds instant access to a heart striving to be charitable and forgiving, long-suffering, and kind—principles of true discipleship. What a testimony that if we strive to remain faithful, the triumph of a Christian life can never be vanquished, no matter how grim the circumstance might be."
So I started writing this blog thinking it was Thursday and instead of Friday Favorites I would have to title this Weekly Favorites when it dawned on me...
IT IS FRIDAY.
Is that the best surprise or what?
Anyways, let's dive into some of my favorites this week shall we?
Favorite giggle:
(I have two)
Favorite song:
Favorite memory:
Kaitlin finally got the pictures back from her wedding!
Such a fun day.
I am so happy Kaitlin found an amazing husband!
Favorite recipe:
I have been making a lot of chocolate chip cookies lately.
I have to say I LOVE this recipe.
It's a recipe from Nestle Tollhouse.
The cookies are so yummy and fluffy!
Make sure you cook them for 9 minutes.
10 minutes is a little too long... unless you like crispy cookies :)
My family and I spent a lot of time making plans and changing them for this joyous weekend.
We finally settled on my family coming up North to Utah.
This way Matt and I (being the poor poor students we are) could save some $$$.
We kicked off the weekend with some breakfast at Kneader's.
Following breakfast my mom and I went to the gym and for the first time
I tried body pump!
And then I could move any muscles in my body for a couple of days.
For those that don't know what body pump is...
It's just straight up lifting weights and/or doing lunges for an hour.
Anyways,
after I got ready for the day my mom and I picked up my cute little grandma and ran some errands.
That night, after the girls were done shopping and the boys were done golfing, we met up at Malawi's for some pizza at the Riverwoods. I actually tried the mac and cheese. It was delicious.
Sunday:
My mom loves Sundance so we took a trip up there and took a ride on the ski lift.
Oh, you'll never know just how proud We were when you vowed To act bravely and never to lose And how you commit To win and not quit And the beautiful way that you choose to survive And the way that you don't just mend but you thrive And the way that you bind us and always remind us To be grateful because in the end we're alive We're alive.
