Resolutions

I'm not one for resolutions. Mainly just because there is all this hype and more than likely no resolutions get fulfilled. Each year I try to keep my heart and mind open to all the possibilities it holds. 2011 was a year for the books. It is going to be hard to top this incredible year but I'm willing to let 2012 try. As far as resolutions go...

1. Live my best life
2. Be the best me

2011 highlights to come.

Happy New Year everyone :) Go enjoy your friends and family.

Movies and Such.

Well I've seen a handful of incredible movies and I must share.
Surprisingly I hadn't seen some of these yet.

Soul Surfer:
I happened to catch this movie on TV and got sucked in.
First off, Carrie Underwood is in this movie and her acting is so bad it hurts.
Poor Carrie.
Next, I want to live in Hawaii.
Finally, this movie gave me chills.
Who doesn't love an underdog overcoming all odds?
Overall, I liked this movie.

Super 8:
AMAZING.

This group of young actors/actresses was incredible.
I loved them all and of course Kyle Chandler
(Coach Taylor, for all you FNL fans) is in it.
I loved the little crushes between kids (of course, I'm a sucker).
I enjoyed the plot even though it's about an alien...
Which typically isn't my thing.
However, I would recommend this movie to anyone.

Les Miserables:
Classic

I grew up singing "On My Own" from the theatrical version
and this week my mom & I have been singing it a lot.
It was super weird when my family & I found it playing on TV.
I really love the movie version.
I think Liam Neeson is a perfect Jean Valjean.
This plot of morality, justice, and mercy makes me cry.
If you don't know the play or movie.
Watch it.

The Help:
Most likely you have heard of this one before!

This week I watched The Help for the second time.
My sister watched it for the first time and it was so fun to watch her fall in love with it.
This movie is so amazing and teaches us so much of the prejudice that did and still does exist today.
This is a tear jerker.
You is kind. You is smart. You is important.

Sense and Sensibility:
Last but not least
A Jane Austen novel adapted to a movie.
If you love Pride & Prejudice as much as I do then you will love this.
Basically it is about two sisters...
One full of sense and the other full of sensibilty.
Kate Winslet plays the sister full of passion following her heart.
This scene was so beautiful.
Honestly, these kinds of movies are my favorite.
I know most people find them really boring but I just love them.
I definitely cried a few times.
Alan Rickman is in this movie...
Many of you know him as Professor Snape.
And of course he is the silent, adoring, unknown hero type of character.
I grow fonder of him every time I watch him act.
I just loved him in this movie.
Let's just say Professor Snape gets his happy ending in one way or another.

With all this extra time I have definitely enjoyed relaxing and catching up on the modern culture. I love love love coming home. It is so warm here I don't know how to go back to such freezing Utah weather.

Also, I have taken up sports. As in... I have decided to watch the NBA games. As in.. I have watched 2 games. I really love the Sacramento Kings clearly because Jimmer is on the team. I didn't start loving him till he left Provo because Jimmer Mania got so intense. Typically things that become really popular make me like it less. Ex: Justin Bieber. Anyways, I know the Kings sort of... suck. But I know most of their names now and I don't really feel like switching. I think what's done is done. My heart has already been won over. Please fill me in on any suggestions
or things I should know about being an NBA guru. Which clearly I will become (as if I didn't look like one already).

AND PLEASE don't tell me I should like the Lakers or Kobe Bryant or else we can't be friends anymore.

The House That Built Me

There is a place built out of stone.
Wooden floors, walls, and window sills
Tables and chairs worn by all the dust...
This is a place where I don't feel alone
This is a place where I feel at home.

If I could just come in I swear I'll leave.
I won't take nothing but a memory.
From the house that built me.

Awake My Soul

I went to Sara's 22nd bday party tonight.
She's so cute.
Hannah Cole leaves on her mission in almost a month!
1 more month!!
How the heck do I survive without her?
Melissa, Erin, and I :)

These boys are genius and their lyrics are incredible.

How fickle my heart & how woosy my eyes
I struggle to find any truth in your lies
Now my heart stumbles on thing I don't know
My weakness I feel I must finally show

Lend me your hand and we'll conquer them all
Lend me your heart and I'll just let you fall.

In these bodies we will live
In these bodies we will die
Where you invest your love
You invest your life
I love this version :)

For the life of me
I cannot remember
What made us think that we were wise
and that we'd never compromise.

Zumba

Zumba classes are hilarious.
If you've ever been to one then you know what I'm talking about.
I just got back from one and I wanted to laugh the whole time!
You got the super intense girls that are practicing before the class starts.
You got the latin girls that know exactly how to dance while you wiggle around like a fool.
You got the white girls that think they're latin and go ALL out.
You got the boys that seriously know how to move their hips better than any girl.
You got the girls that are really pretty who stare at themselves in the mirror the whole time.
And the old women who are super fit and come with their sweat bands around their foreheads all ready to sweat it out.
Half the time I just wiggle and move my feet around hoping I am turning the same way as everyone else.
Zumba is funny.
I like it.

I'm in the mood for some Red Hot Chili Peppers.
I'm in the mood for a road trip to California about now.

The place where you can still remember dreaming?

It's a cold study night.
And this is a perfect song.

The boys on senate got me into this.
Even though I already loved Ellie Goulding.
This just rocks.

Dubstep

Oh Angus...
Awesomeness.

My blog post about STYLE

This is that typical blog post about style
I've been getting a lot of questions about my apparel
specifically ...
pajamas.
Now, winter is a tricky season to dress for
especially if your apartment is SUPER COLD
like mine.
so it's all about layering... right!?
right.
Here is the latest combo I'm diggin'

Night gown: Victoria's Secret
Sweat pants: UVU bookstore
Sweat shirt: Vintage... My mom's from the 90's. yep.

Make sure you tuck in the sweat pants into some long socks.
Enjoy!
Don't be afraid to mix & match different patterns.

Here is a jam for your Tuesday night.

And in case you didn't catch my sense of humor.
All of the above was a joke.

Emmy Rose Croshaw

Today I met my little niece Emerson
She's the sweetest little girl.
We snuggled on the couch all day while she slept.
She didn't cry once.
She tries really hard to keep her eyes open to see what is going on.
But usually she ends up making the funniest cross eyed face.
I love love love her.
I can't get enough of her!
I love being an Aunt!

Goodbye fall
Goodbye pretty leaves
Some good tunes for you.

Dear Reader,

I guess this has been on my mind a lot this week... This time of life is sooo... interesting. Change is a constant companion. And the bad guys (and girls) are not so easily identified. In fact, most appear to be your friends. This time period of being in college is a great trial run for the real world. Bad situations and mean people will always be in your life in one form or another... but if there is one thing that I've learned it is to not give the best parts of yourself away and dwell on bitterness. Being affected and playing the victim will never hurt them or make your life better. It will only ruin YOU. People will act how they want to, hurt who they want to, and from my experience.... appear innocent in many other people's eyes. However, there are always people who love you, a God that knows who you are, and you're special in your own way. Don't let these things ruin you. Too many amazing things are ahead and waiting to happen. Just love. And never ever forget who you are & your potential. Sooo i guess this has been on my mind a lot this week.

Nashville Tennesse

Last weekend I went to Nashville for the ASACC conference for Senate.

It was so amazing, I want to go back!

Here is little glimpse of what happened there:

We left Utah on Thursday night

Dani & I worked out.

Friday:

We woke up and planted trees!

It was pretty great weather while we were there

but Friday morning was SUPER chilly.

I had a t-shirt, jacket, sweatshirt, and another shirt on.

Brrr...

Then the conference begun and we listened to a few speakers

And at night Senate got together and watched a movie... awww.

We also learned how to line dance.

AND we ate very well.

I love southern food.

This is Broadway street. Where all the magic happens.

Music everywhere, food, dancing, and more.

I LOVVEEDD it.

So Saturday we were in lectures all day

so at night we got to play!

We ate at this awesome place called BB King's.

There was a live band, yummy food, and dancing.

Then I went to the Wild Horse Saloon and went line dancing!

That place was sooo cool.

It's exactly what I thought a saloon would be like.

People everywhere at tables with their beers.

People on the balcony watching the dance floor.

The live band was super good.

We were right up front.

After the Wild Horse extravaganza we got ice cream at Mike's

they make their ice cream homemade.

It's as amazing as it looks/sounds.

Their red velvet ice cream had chunks of cake and icing in it.

(and that lovely X on my hand is from the Wild Horse because I am under 21... it was a sad moment for me. Everyone looks at you weird after that. I felt branded as a child. haha)

These are our friends we made at ASACC from Wisconsin.

And their accents are funny!

Sunday:

It was the last day of the conference so we heard a few speeches and it wrapped up.

We had the whole day to go see some sites.

We went to the Parthenon, of course. This was #1 on my list!

It was sooooo cool.

Academic Senate 2011-2012

Then we ate at this place called Big River

A-M-A-Z-I-N-G.

I had chicken fried chicken with mashed potatoes

yep.

And of course we had a photo shoot. In front of the Big River.

Later that night we walked around the city.

The sun sets at 4:30pm which was weird.

We walked up the bridge over looking the city/ Cumberland river

It was beautiful.

We flew home monday at 7am.

It was a looong day!

I love to travel and see new places.

I fall in love with every place I visit, I can't help it!

Til next time Nashville...

Sometimes I just love being nostalgic :]

I haven't seen you in ages.
Sometimes I find myself wondering where you are,
for me you'll always be 18.
And beautiful.
And dancing away with my heart.

2 DAYS TIL NASHVILLE!!

Sunday, November 6, 2011

This weekend was Kaitlin's 21st birthday!
We went to Leatherby's for dinner.
And then went to the Sheraton in SLC
& had a sleepover!
It was snowing like crazy.
But it was peaceful being inside
a warm hotel room watching
the snow fall over the city.

Martinelli's!
I love this girl!
The next day we went to the Gateway.
We ate at California Pizza Kitchen.
Did you know they have pumpkin cheesecake!?
Well they do, and you should definitely eat some.

This Thursday I'm going to Nashville for a Senate conference! So obviously I'm getting my Nashville soundtrack ready. Lady A can do no wrong.
